Responsive and Engaged Leadership for District Five on the Garland City Council

I live in Garland’s Orchard Hills neighborhood, with my four daughters: Antoinette, Olivia, Eleanor, and Genevieve.

I was born and raised in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, a blue-collar neighborhood of Boston. My Dad, Dick, served as an Army cryptanalyst in West Germany at the dawn of the Cold War and impressed upon me the importance of thorough and detailed work. My Mom, Ann, stayed at home taking care of me and my sisters; she taught us, by her example, of the value of compassionate service to others.

If you’ve watched some of our Council Meetings over the past two years, you may have seen what I learned from my parents - a heart of compassion and a mind of precision.

My involvement with Garland goes back more than 20 years, to my first days as a lawyer in Texas; the first case I worked on was to defend the City of Garland and one of its police officers against a claim of excessive force.

Over the years, I fought tirelessly for Garland in many other cases, from defending City employees to helping rid Garland of decrepit and dangerous apartments. I have spent many sleepless nights preparing legal briefs and arguments for the City. I have also been a practical and successful advocate for many of the biggest companies and public entities in Texas and the United States in litigation against top lawyers and law firms.

After stints at Texas firms, including Bickel & Brewer and Vial, Hamilton, Koch & Knox, I helped to found A M Lawyers, in 2009. At A M Lawyers, I have primarily assisted small businesses in disputes with other businesses.

I care about people and love to help them tell their stories and resolve their issues. I have spent countless hours listening to clients, witnesses, experts, lawyers, judges and juries over the last twenty years and then using that information to help effectively represent my clients. I bring these same skills and passions to representing the constituents of District Five in Garland and want to continue doing so for another two years.
